Full article

Welsh producers are hoping to make important contacts when they head east for the Food & Hotel Asia (FHA) trade exhibition in Singapore this month (22-25 April).

The event is Asia’s largest international food a hospitality show, and in 2006 attracted more than 37,000 international buyers to Singapore’s Expo centre.

Seven Welsh companies will be exhibiting at the event under the Welsh Assembly Government’s International Business Wales and True Taste banners.

With a population of 3.6 billion, the Asia Pacific region has the highest annual volume of food consumption accounting for around 56% of the world’s population.

‘Drink Exporter of the Year’ and ‘Welsh Exporter of the Year’ at the 2007 Food from Britain Export Awards, Llanllyr Water Company will be showing its whole range of Llanllyr Source still and sparkling water in 750ml and 330ml glass bottles.
The True Taste Award winner which was also judged best tasting British water by Imbibe Magazine will also be showing its newly launched eco-friendly convenience pack.

Halen Môn/The Anglesey Sea Salt Company will be introducing a number of new products at the event, and hopes to capitalise on the far Eastern market’s interest in different sea salts for different dishes.
The company will highlight the attributes of the sea around Anglesey from where Halen Môn’s award-winning sea salt  - it was named one of  the world’s top five gastronomic products at the Feria de Gastronomía in San Sebastian -  is harvested.
New at FHA will be Oak smoked and Organic spiced Halen Môn in 500g chef’s packs, 100g fine Halen Môn, 100g organic celery Halen Môn, and 10g tubes of  Halen Môn vanilla, organic spiced, oak smoked, pure and organic celery. Recipe cards and point of sale material will also be on show.

Trioni Ltd will be spreading some of its ‘goodness’ at FHA with its Daioni flavoured organic milk.
The award-winning Pembrokeshire company’s drinks are low in fat with no artificial colours; flavours or preservatives .The drinks are available in four flavours - chocolate (current holder of the national 'Excellence in Food and Drink ' award for children's drinks) strawberry, banana, and cranberry & raspberry. The company will also be promoting its new  Daioni 125ml  organic milk pack for foodservice.

Ty Nant Spring Water Ltd, the Bethania based company, will be displaying its award winning Ty Nant still and sparkling mineral water range, available in cobalt blue and crimson red glass, and the chic and minimalist TAU spring water range.
Also on display will be the Ross Lovegrove designed PET bottles of still water available in 1.5ltr, 1.0ltr and 500ml.
The Hurns Brewing Company will be making its first visit to the biennial FHA. The Gold True Taste award-winning company from Swansea, which also received the ‘The Best Beer in Wales’  accolade from Tesco,  will be showing all of its bottled range, including: OSB, Cwrw Haf, Cwrw Braf, Cwrw Gaeaf, Taffy Apples Cider, and Magic Lagyr.
The Good Carb Food Co. Ltd will be displaying its range of Lizi’s Granola products in Singapore.
The Llanelli-based company’s innovative healthy snacks are low GL 5.5, slow energy release and are blood sugar friendly and wheat free.
The range includes Lizi’s Original Granola, a toasted ready-to-eat cereal, and
‘Lizi’s Granola Crunch’, which are bite sized toasted cereal clusters and come in 3 flavours: Treacle and Pecan, Lime and Ginger and Belgian Chocolate.
The company already has some links with the Far East, exporting to Hong Kong and India.
Hybu Cig Cymru-Meat Promotion Wales will take steps at the event to expand the market for Welsh Lamb in the potentially lucrative Far East region, which HCC hopes to be able to capitalize on that in the near future.
A wide choice of cuts will be on display on the stand and HCC staff and Welsh red meat exporters will be on hand to offer advice and to help potential future buyers, who will also be able to sample the delights of PGI Welsh Lamb.
