A Taste Of Wales For Italian Culinary Congress

Full article

A True Taste of Wales will be on offer later this month at one of Italy’s premier culinary events, Identità Golose (January 27-30).

Welsh sea salt company, Halen Môn will be exhibiting its range at the Milan-based event. Identità Golose comes hot on the heels of another European culinary extravaganza, the legendary Feria de Gastronomía in Spain where the True Taste award-winning company was named as one of the world’s top five gastronomic products

“This is a new event for us and we will have the opportunity to meet with some of the international chefs we already supply through distributors,” says director of Halen Môn Alison Lea-Wilson.
“Identità Golose marks the start of a busy 2008 for us as through the Welsh Assembly Government we will shortly be going to Gulfood in Dubai and the Alimentaria international food show in Barcelona.”

Highlighting Wales’ flagship Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef will be Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales, which will be represented as part of the UK-wide contingent.

Now in its fourth year the annual congress is dedicated to signature cuisine, and was founded by Italian journalist and food writer, Paolo Marchi.

For four days, the building - which is the historical headquarters of the Milan Stock Exchange - will be home to the congress which has been described as the ‘pre-eminent event for avant-garde chefs.’

This year’s featured areas will be the Italian region of Abruzzo and the UK. Representing the UK will be chefs Heston Blumenthal, Sat Bains, Shane Osborn, and Sanjay Dwivedi, who will show visitors the range and expertise of UK cuisine.

The city of Milan will be largely involved too, with a series of events and dinners in some of its best restaurants.
