Fine food and drink with a Welsh accent, that’s what’s on offer at Gulfood 2007, the leading exhibition in the Middle East for the food and drink industry.
Held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (19-22 February), Gulfood is a must for anyone wanting to take advantage of the huge opportunities that exist in the Gulf States for UK food and drink products and services.
A number of Welsh food and drink producers will be exhibiting at Gulfood under the auspices of the Welsh Assembly Government’s True Taste banner and facilitated by International Business Wales.
The award-winning Llanllyr Water Company, which was recently launched its Source pure natural spring water in the Canadian market, will be exhibiting its glass 750ml and 330ml bottles of still and sparkling water.
Boncath based Wendy Brandon Handmade Preserves, will be showing traditional favourites from its range of jams, marmalades, chutneys and fruit vinegars, such as orange marmalade, strawberry and raspberry jam.
Welsh cheese makers co-operative, Cheeses From Wales, will be offering samples of six pasteurised cheeses from: Caws Cenarth, Caws Mynydd Du, Colliers Cheddar, Llanboidy Cheesemakers, Pantmawr Farmhouse Cheese, and the Snowdonia Cheese Company. Three unpasteurised cheeses will also be showcased: Caws Nantybwla, Merlin Cheeses and Teifi Farmhouse Cheese.
Welsh Exporter of the year 2006, Knighton based Radnor Hills Mineral Water Company Ltd will be exhibiting the award winning Jufru blends of fruit juice and spring water, in particular the True Taste winning orange and passion fruit. Also on show will be the low Gi sparkling range of fruit flavoured spring water, GI fruitades.
The Heartsease range, a premium selection of spring water and fruit spritzers under the Honest to Goodness label will also be available for tasting.
While Welsh Lamb will be on display courtesy of Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales, and supplied by Welsh Country Foods, Gaerwen.
Welsh Lamb will be available at a leading supermarket in Dubai from March following extensive talks by the Welsh Assembly Government, HCC and authorities in Dubai.
An additional number of companies will be traveling to Dubai as part of a trade mission to explore the market and identify potential export opportunities.
Specialist stainless steel fabricator Axium Process from Swansea, which operates in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and biotech industries, will be investigating the market along with Deeside based Itex Ltd, the export arm of the Iceland Frozen Foods supermarket chain.
They are joined by restaurant fine food supplier Vin Sullivan Foods of Blaenavon, and hand-made confectionary producer, The Welsh Chocolate Company from Swansea; and Caws Cenarth, double gold winners in this year’s True Taste Wales Food & Drink Awards.
