Traditional banger lovers will be in for a treat as award-winning butcher Edwards of Conwy launches a new range of products with Tesco at the Royal Welsh Show (July 23-26).
This Welsh company already supplies Tesco with pre-packed sausages, and this latest deal will see six new products appearing in the retailer’s loose counters, giving customers even greater choice.
The sausages and bacon will be launched at next week’s Royal Welsh Show, and at the same time go on sale at 15 Tesco stores in South West Wales and North Wales.
Said Ieuan Edwards, Managing Director and True Taste Ambassador 2005/06, “I am delighted to have this opportunity of reaching a wide audience with our gold award winning products.
“We have been supplying Tesco for a number of years with our pre-packed sausages, and now customers will have the opportunity to buy our products from Tesco fresh meat counters too.”
Four varieties of sausage -Traditional Pork, Traditional Pork Chipolata, Pork and Leek, and Pork with Cracked Black Pepper - will go on sale from next week along with the company’s Plain Black Bacon, and Smoke Flavoured Back Bacon.
“The sausages are made using the finest shoulder pork and a secret blend of herbs and spices,“ said Ieuan, a farmer’s son from Conwy who was just 21 when he opened his first butcher’s shop.
“They are traditionally mixed in small batches in order to maintain a traditional ‘butchers sausage’ appearance. They are all a reduced fat recipe and are made with natural skins.”
The company has a string of industry and food critic awards to its name, among them gold True Taste Awards, and most recently a gold Great Taste Award for its Pork sausage with Cracked Black Pepper.
The Edwards of Conwy range will be available to taste and buy at the Tesco stand at the Royal Welsh Show.
