Heavenly Chocolate spreads seasonal spirit at festival

Full article

Chocoholics will be beating a path to Llandeilo next month for the ‘Heavenly Christmas Chocolate, Pudding and Ice Cream Festival’ (November 20-24).

This is the third time the artisan ice cream and confectionary company has held its seasonal celebration, but this year, the whole town has joined in making Llandeilo the place to be for food and entertainment with a festive feel.

“We have taken the festival up a gear, making it a real community affair,” says Tracey Kindred who runs the True Taste gold-winning ‘Heavenly’ and also the adjoining Angel Hotel and Bistro with her husband Paul.

“For the past two years we have sourced our chocolate from our many quality suppliers, but this year I will be making a large selection of exclusive chocolates myself, which won’t be available anywhere else,” says Tracey who qualified in chocolate making - including design innovation and sculpting - at the Callebaut Chocolate Acadamy in Banbury Oxfordfordshire.

Among the chocolate delights on offer will be tree decorations, giant Santa stockings, and white chocolate snowmen - which are hand decorated and finished with the customer’s message of choice. Also available to order will be the ultimate festive table centre piece, a 3D chocolate Christmas trees standing 21” high finished in gold or silver.

“We will be holding chocolate classes which include a history of chocolate and tastings of couverture chocolate and single origin chocolate from equatorial countries, along with some unusual chocolate/food pairings.”

Indeed ‘Heavenly’ has a reputation for creating unique and distinctive ice cream which is made in a special ‘lab’ on the premises, where with just 48 hours notice they can create any flavour the customer wants.

“We will have some of the flavours which went down well last year such as Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, Mulled Wine Sorbet and Christmas Pud, and have added a few more for our more experimental customers - Spiced Christmas Chutney or Turkey and Cranberry Sauce. Both the sweet and sour go remarkably well together.”

Among the many puddings and cakes will be an alternative for those who like a dense rich cake but who dislike fruit. The chocolate based cake contains with Heavenly shortbread biscuits and honeycomb.

“We love giving visitors the opportunity to try our range and this year people will also have the chance to enter their own Christmas puddings in a pudding tasting competition run by Llandeilo chamber of trade as part of the Llandeilo Festival of Senses which is running alongside our chocolate festival,” adds Tracey.
