Visitors to the Restaurant Show (October 8 -10) will feast their eyes on the new True Taste exhibition stand and sample a range of Welsh food and drink.
Held at London’s Earls Court 2 exhibition centre and aimed exclusively at the UK’s restaurant industry, The Restaurant Show is now in its 19th year and last year attracted over 12,000 visitors from the hospitality industry.
A number of Welsh companies will be exhibiting under the Welsh Assembly Government’s True Taste banner, which features a new-look exhibition stand.
Covering 330 sq metres the newly designed True Taste stand is the largest exhibition unit at the Show. It features new bold signage and colour scheme, plasma screens, glass walled kitchens - making the preparation process part of the display - and three custom-made ‘sushi belts’ which will revolve around the stand displaying products and offering visitors tapas-style tastings.
A menu featuring the products on display has been created by award-winning chef Mary Anne Gilchrist of the Carlton Riverside restaurant in Llanwrtyd Wells.
Said Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones, “In today’s competitive market place producers have to be able to stand out from the crowd. The importance of making an impression at major industry events such as the Restaurant Show is vital for Welsh producers looking to expand their customer-base.
“The Welsh Assembly Government’s new look True Taste stand I am sure will attract visitors and hopefully lead to increased business for those companies attending the show; and reflect the excellence and dynamism of the Welsh food and drink industry as a whole.”
Among the Welsh companies exhibiting at the event under the True Taste banner, is Mid Wales-based online farm shop Welsh Farm Organics.
The company has added a new ready to eat sausage - the Mochdre Pole - to its range of products, which includes air dried hams, beef, lamb and pork.
The new Eastern European inspired sausage is made from cured pork, garlic, marjoram and roasted black peppercorns and is smoked over a Blackthorn fire.
